All About Snoring

Do you snore in your sleep? I was told I do when I am very tired. What is snoring anyway?

Snoring is a breathing noise that occurs while someone is sleeping. The actual snoring sound is produced from the vibration of the soft palate and sides of the throat when rushes against them. The sound of snoring happens when the airway collapses and the muscles fail to maintain their normal function.

In recent years, snoring has been advised as a warning sign that normal breathing is not taking place during sleep. For most adults, snoring does not involve a serious medical disorder. However, adults who snore need to know that it may be the first sign of obstructive sleep apnea.

Whatever you feel, it usually shows in the kind of music you listen to. When people are in love, you will most probably hear them hum happy songs and sing along to love songs. While people who are down may resort to listening to sad song or be an “EMO” and tune in to drum and percussion drench songs such as the beats from Silverfox drums to ease the pain and hurting that they feel.

In Using Compost Bins

In our village, aside from the twice weekly pick up of household trash and garbage, every household as well are advised and always be reminded to properly segregate our trash. They have a strict ruling that if you fail to pay the monthly association fee for 3 consecutive months, your trash will no longer picked up. Thus, we as a resident of this village, also try to follow the payment scheme as we don’t want to stink that would jeopardize our health. Beat the Heat: Tips on Preventing Heat Stroke

As with any other illnesses, the best defense that you can take against heat-related illness is by preventing it. The first signs of a deadly heatstroke are simply just that – no sweat. During hot summer days, our body has a natural cooling mechanism – we sweat and it evaporates to help us cool down. But during those hot, dry and humid days, evaporation can slow down and the body cannot easily cool down.

During the first signs of discomfort due to the heat, drink plenty of water. Avoid drinking caffeinated drinks and alcohol. If you need to stay outdoors, be sure to stay hydrated, and take lots of break indoors or under the shade. Taking preventive measures and knowing warning signs for heat stroke can save your life and the people you love.

Be on the lookout for these warning signs especially during extremely hot summer days –

• Pale skin
• Dizziness and nausea
• Weakness and fatigue
• Rapid pulse rate
• Profusely sweating
• Cramps and muscle weakness
• Fast and shallow breathing

If you or anyone around you shows any of these, get them out of the heat immediately and have them rest in cool shady places. Provide plenty of water to drink or fluids that is has salts and sugar. Contact a doctor if any of the symptoms persist after 30 minutes. This case can progress into a heat stroke if not treated properly.

On the other hand, seek immediate medical attention if any of these signs are imminent:

• Non-sweaty hot and dry skin
• Loss of consciousness
• Confusion
• Vomiting
• Throbbing headache
• Trouble breathing or shortness of breath

Always keep in mind that heat stroke is dangerous and it is fatal. People who have heat exhaustion may develop fevers progress into a heat stroke with seizures or go into a coma. If you suspect heat stroke among your company, take the victim to a cooler place and take off any heavy clothing. Fan them down or wet their body with a cloth or sponge and encourage the person to drink lots of cool fluids.

To avoid any chances of having a heat stroke, here are a few tips to keep you cool during hot and humid days:

• Drink a quart of liquid per hour.
• Don’t overexert yourself.
• Wear light and loose clothing with breathable fabrics. Wear a hat when you’re out in the sun and use sun block. Take breaks and stay indoors as much as you can.
• Avoid alcohol and caffeine – these two speeds up dehydration.
• Open windows and use electric fans if you don’t have air conditioning. Stay in malls, movie theaters or libraries to cool down.

Heat stroke can make a person more sensitive to heat even a week afterwards. Avoid staying outside during really hot days and do not exercise too hard. Keep in mind that everyone is susceptible to this illness when exposed to extremely hot environments for a length of time.
